Mass of Resurrection will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 5 to 8 P.M., Wednesday, February 4, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with a prayer service at 4:30 P.M. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or Y.M.C.A.Sharon was born April 12, 1943, in Logan County, IL, the daughter of Allen and Marie (Hjort) Blakeman. She married Laverne Malone on January 30, 1965 in Mt. Pulaski, IL. Sharon was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Sharon was a teacher at Edinburg High School, and later a teacher at Niantic H.S for 10 years. For the past 30 years she was a Real Estate Broker in the Decatur area, most recently associated with REMax Realtors.Sharon was an avid supporter of Decatur Celebration, participating with a Lemon Shake-Up stand for 23 years, and was a former Board of Director for Y.M.C.A. She loved to travel and enjoyed gardening. Sharon is survived by her husband of 44 years, Laverne of Maroa, IL; daughter Michelle Schafer and husband Jay; granddaughter Montana Schafer; grandson Cole Schafer, all of Marion, IL; brothers Lawrence Blakeman of Warrensburg, IL, John Blakeman of Decatur, IL; sisters Fay Wade and husband David of Lawrenceville, GA, Toni Blakeman of Decatur, IL.
