Sean R. Lipka, 39, passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2023 but to the outstretched waiting arms of his sister, Haley.
Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur with Pastor Mark Gearing officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 – 11:00 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials in Sean’s honor may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, LSA, or Holy Family Catholic School.
Sean went to Lutheran School Association, graduated from St. Teresa High School and then earned his bachelor’s degree from Millikin University. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He worked as a Laborer for Laborers Local 159, the same union as his father. He then worked as an operator at ADM.
Sean was the light and life of our family and brought joy to everyone who knew him. He had a gift for making people feel loved and at ease with his smile and stories. His countless friends helped him during the time of his stroke and we will be forever grateful for that as he worked his way back from a paralyzing condition that would have defeated most people. His faith in God and his two precious sons, Landon and Grayson, kept him going. Those two boys were the focal point of his life and he never failed to tell them how much he loved them and how proud he was of them!
Sean will be forever missed by surviving members of his family including his mother and father, Vicki and Kenny Baker; his sons: Landon Lipka and Grayson Lipka; his brother and wife: Dr. Seth and Kholoud Lipka; sister and husband: Nicole and Tracey Horner; and sister, Ashley Baker. He was loved by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a little mini Austrian Shepherd puppy just adopted, Bella Jo.
Sean was greeted in heaven by his sister, Haley; father, Wally Lipka; cousin, Danny Hartwick; and grandparents and other relatives who predeceased him. He’ll also be joining his buddies: Kyle, Tony, and Matt.
The summers he spent playing softball sponsored by The Wharf with his buddies were some of the best of his life. Sean lived a life that was full of friends and love and he shared it freely. He will be a joyous addition to that group in heaven. We’ll miss you Sean- your stories, your laugh, YOU!
