Scott Eric Wells, 56, of Oakley passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 surrounded by his family at Decatur Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, at Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren. Memorials in Scott’s honor may be made his family or to Alcoholics Anonymous. Scott was born March 16, 1962 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Clyde and Shirley (Handley) Wells. He was self employed as a carpenter and enjoyed time on the water boating and NASCAR racing, especially Jeff Gordon. The best of Scott still lives and is still carried on by his only child, Sarah of Lehihg Acres, FL. He is survived by his parents Clyde and Shirley Wells of Oakley; sisters, Carla Wells of Cerro Gordo and Cathy Hardesty of Decatur; and nieces and nephews, Zaydyn Wells, Cydney Manns, John Wells, James Wells, and Shana Hunsaker. Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hartzel and May Wells and Coy and Ellen Handley; brother, Bradley Leon Wells and nephew, Michael Wells. Scott’s family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dawn and Amber, nurses at DMH IMU 4 West for their excellent care and compassion.
