DECATUR - Sarah Rachel Craycroft, age 28, slipped peacefully into the loving hand of God on December 16, 2011 with her family at her side. Her passing marks the end of a courageous five year battle with neuro sarcoidosis. Memorial visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 19th at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with services at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20th at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research at www.stopsarcoidosis.org or the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) at www.rarediseases.org Sarah was born on July 13, 1983 to Aaron and Madeline (Moore) Craycroft in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was a beloved daughter, a devoted and adoring mother to her son Gabriel (5), and cherished sister to her brother Adam of Memphis, Tn. As the child of a military family, Sarah lived in and leaves friends in Washington, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida, and most recently in Illinois. She graduated from O'Fallon Township High School, O'Fallon, IL in 2001, and earned a certificate in Massage Therapy from Southwest Illinois College in 2003. During the past 5 years, Sarah was an administrative assistant in the Corporate Construction office at Archer Daniels Midland Company in Decatur where she leaves many friends. She is survived by her son, parents, and brother, Grandfather Robert A. "Colonel" Craycroft, Uncle Bart and Aunt Suzanne Craycroft of Macon, Uncle Eric, Aunt Ann Marie, cousins Nathan and Allison Craycroft of Mission Viejo, CA, Great-Aunt Iris Moore, Uncle Craig and Aunt Debbie Moore, cousin Drew Moore, all of Niantic, cousins Trent, Angela, and Daniel Moore of Ames, IA, Kevin and Dawn (Moore) Eckhart and children of Katy, TX, numerous second cousins, and her cherished friends, Kelly Heubner of Decatur and M'Liss Brown of Blue Mound. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Earl and Phyllis Moore and paternal grandmother D'Arlene Craycroft. Sarah is most remembered for her cheerful smile, kind words, and caring heart, but those closest to her cannot forget her bravery and determination to conquer a chronic illness and continue her devoted motherhood to Gabriel. Know that to her last breath, he was the driving force in her life, and the center of her universe. Sarah's family wishes to thank the skilled physicians and caring nurses at Decatur Memorial Hospital ICU and Ward 4100, Heartland Rehabilitative Services, the Neurological staff at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, and St Mary's Adult Services in Decatur for their valiant effort to cure and comfort Sarah during her struggle.
