Sally Jane Winters, 78, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on July 23, 2024.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur Illinois. Memorials in Sally’s honor may be made to your local Humane Society.
Sally was born on February 20, 1946 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Alberta Bertha Behymer. Sally met the love of her life Clyde Edward Winters, who precedes her, and they were married on November 24, 1967 in Springfield, Illinois. Sally was a teacher in the Monticello School District for many years. She loved her students and the teachers she worked with.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Winters; grandchildren: Emily Manzella-Blanck (Scott), Rachael Richardson, Caleb Hall, and Emma Hall; great-grandchildren: Lilly Manzella, Sofia Manzella, and Mason Blanck. Sally is also survived by her brother, Charles A. Barnell.
She was a member of the Washington Area Retired Teachers Club.
Sally was an avid reader. After working for the school, she went on to work for the Walden Books Store. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her famous fried chicken. Most of all, she loved her family and her dogs, Charlie and BJ.
She is preceded in death by her mother; husband, Clyde; and her daughters, Kelly Hall and Sara Strater.
