Sadie (Lay) Heneghan, 92, of Forsyth, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Fair Havens Christian Home. Mass of Christian burial will be 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Teresa High School Scholarship Fund. Sadie was the wife of Richard M. Heneghan who preceded her in death. Sadie was born and raised in Alabama where she met Richard during WWII. She was a wonderful mother to Michael (Gayle) Heneghan, Kerry (Tony) Waser, Lisa (Ken) Pinkham, Cynthia (Mark) Slovacek, Colleen Heneghan, and infant son Mark who died at birth. Sadie was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Patrick, Shelley, Kelley, Mark, Erin, Katie, Steve, Liz, Amy, Brett, and Brendan, and 8 great grandchildren who were the joy of her life. Sadie's four brothers and one sister preceded her in death. She has one surviving sister Nettie. All are from Alabama. Sadie loved music, especially singing and playing the piano. She was also an avid reader and bridge player. She will be missed by all who knew her.
