Ruth Smith

Ruth Evelyn (Purdue) Smith, 90, of Decatur, Formerly of Springfield, IL., passed away at 11:00 P.M. on Monday (03-23-2015) at Tanglewood Village, Decatur, IL. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in June 2015. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Ruth was born on August 30, 1924, in Decatur, IL., the daughter of Troy R. Purdue and Mildred (Peabody). She married Rollin R. Smith. He passed away in 2013. Ruth was a teacher in Rochester and Springfield for many years. She graduated from Millikin University and has her Masters Degree from Eastern Illinois University. Ruth was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Springfield, IL. She volunteered at Sangamon State University Auditorium and St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Ruth is survived by her three children: Linda Moody and husband Bob of Tulsa Ok., Cynthia Meier and husband Mike of Elgin, IL., and Ken Smith and wife Kelly of Boston, MA, grandchildren: Tarah Smith Noonan and husband Ryan, Chelsea Smith, Paul Smith, Eric Klekamp and wife Amanda, and Corbin Tubbs and wife Christy., Great-grandchildren: Caty, Carson, Christian Tubbs, Saffron and Charlotte Klekamp, and Emma Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Cavan Tubbs, and one sister Joan Jack. "
