Ruth F. Schum, 99, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025 at Imboden Creek Living Center.

Visitation will be 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Monday, March 17, 2025 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Ruth was born May 23, 1925 in Palmer, IL, the daughter of Harry and Gracie (Harrison) Paine. She married Harold E. Schum on September 2, 1949 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2003. Ruth worked for many years at General Electric. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She attended Central Baptist Church and previously, First Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are her son, Randy Schum and his wife Vicky of Decatur; grandson, Derek Schum of Ashburn, VA; and great-grandsons: Drew Schum and Jaxson Mackling.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; three sisters and four brothers.
