Ruth Riddle

Ruth J. Riddle, 82, of Decatur, IL. passed away at 9:45 A.M. on Friday (02-25-2011) at St. Marys Hospital.Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday (03-01-2011) at Second Church of God, Decatur, IL. with visitation from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.Memorials may be made to: Second Church of God.Ruth was born on September 5, 1928 in Decatur, IL., the daughter of Melbourne Sharples and Ethel (Douglas) Sharples. She married Melvin Riddle in 1949 in Clinton, IL.Ruth was a member of Second Church of God, where she was very active, past treasurer of Womens group, taught Sunday School and also helped with fund raising. She worked in sales at Bergners for fifteen years, retiring in 1990. Ruth enjoyed cake decorating and handicrafts.She is survived by her husband Melvin of Decatur, IL., Children: Carl Spann, Neil E. Riddle of Decatur, IL., Brenda Heidenreich of Colorado, Julie Turner and husband Jim of Decatur, IL., Philip Riddle and wife Jeannie of Warrensburg, IL., and Kevin Riddle and wife Gwen of Decatur, IL.; eleven grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents.
