Ruth Hutchins Scott Murphy, 92, of Decatur, died April 10, 2010, at McKinley Court. Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery Philadelphia, PA. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Murphy was born on October 4, 1917 in Philadelphia, PA., the daughter of William Scott and Edith Otto Scott. She graduated from Abington, PA. High School and Temple University Business School. She worked at Lippincott Publishing in Philadelphia, where she met her husband-to-be, William E. Murphy. They were married on her birthday, October 4, 1941, and had two children, Scott Murphy (Lucy), of Decatur, IL. and Lee Leary (Michael) of Flagstaff, AZ., two granddaughters, Katie Murphy and Nora Murphy, both of Los Angeles, and a great granddaughter, Eloise Lishka, Los Angeles, all of whom survive. Her husband predeceased her, as did her parents and two brothers, William Scott and David Scott.After she married, Ruth was a homemaker. She was a chairman of the St. Marys Hospital gift shop for many years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and past member of The Decatur Club and Country Club of Decatur.Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church. "
