Ruth Kress

Ruth K. Kress, 94, of Mt. Zion, IL, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Heritage Manor, Mt. Zion, IL. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Ruth was born June 25, 1918, in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Jahnke) Klenk. She married Charles William Kress, Sr. He preceded her in death in 2002. Ruth was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and participated in quilting with the ladies of the church. She was an avid knitter and crocheter and enjoyed spending time with the Red Hat Ladies. Surviving are her son Charles W. Kress, Jr. and wife Barbara of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Erika Phillips and husband Scott of Oakley, IL, Benjamin Kress of Decatur, IL; and sister Helen Waldman of Ashland, OH. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles W. Kress, Sr., son Gary, daughter Lynne, brothers Albert and William, and sister Margaret. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Heartland Health Care and The Glenwood of Mt. Zion for their loving care during Ruth's journey. "
