Ruth E. Fritts, 97, of Decatur, IL passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Tanglewood Village, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 2:00pm with visitation one hour prior to service time at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. Graveside services will follow at 4:30pm at the Toledo Cemetery in Toledo, IL. Memorials can be made to the Church of the Brethren, Decatur, IL. Ruth was born on March 11, 1916 in rural Beecher City, IL to Fred K. and J. Edith Eagleton. She married C. Raymond Fritts on March 5, 1938 in Missouri. Ruth earned her B.S. from Millikin University and received her Masters of Education from the University of Illinois. She taught in the Decatur School District at Oakland and Roach Schools and was Principal at Oglesby School when she retired in 1976. Her survivors include one sister, Lois Traughber of Fruitland, ID and 29 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers; Paul Eagleton and Glen Eagleton and 5 sisters; Opal Lawrence, Violet Pierce, Adda Dunker, May Maurer, and Gladys "Nona" Mize, and 2 nephews. Ruth was a member of the Church of the Brethren from the age of 7. She also belonged to the Decatur Education Association and the Illinois Education Association. She was a world traveler and enjoyed cruises. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her family and friends. Ruth was a Christian woman, thoughtful, loyal and unique. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Her last years were spent living at Tanglewood Village in Decatur, IL and many knew her as "Auntie Ruth." "
