Memorial: 2:00 PM on July 11, 2011 Ruth Lynne Munsie Ewing, 95 of Forsyth, IL, passed away July 6, 2011. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 11, 2011 at Central Christian Church, Decatur, IL. Private family burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Central Christian Church. Ruth was born January 9, 1916 in Butler Co., Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of Harvey Merle and Laura Louise (Strattner) Edwards. She married Dr. Wallace W. Munsie in 1939 who preceded her in death in July 1945. She married Neil Ewing in 1951 who preceded her in death in March 1973. Ruth was a member of Central Christian Church since 1931, served as an Elder, was the first woman President of the congregation and was an honored Elder Emeritus. She was a Decatur H.S. graduate and received her Bachelor's degree from Millikin University in 1937 and her Masters degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1977. Ruth taught for 20 years in the Decatur School District, teaching Home Economics for many years and later was a Reading teacher in the Title I program. Ruth was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Psi Psi Psi Mothers Group, Chapter IF of PEO, Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher's Organization, Decatur Retired Teachers Association. She served on the Board of Woodhaven Learning Center - a Disciple of Christ residential campus for mentally and physically disabled children. She is survived by her children Jean Ewing Fields, Susan Munsie Stupp and husband Richard, Marjorie Munsie Griffith and husband James, Thomas Neil Ewing, M.D. and wife Lisette; grandchildren Mark (Joni) Fields, Mike (Katrina) Fields, Martha (Gus) Fields Hulbert, Brian Stupp, Jeffrey Stupp, Douglas (Jennifer) Griffith, Thomas (Kelly) Griffith, David Griffith, Rhys Ewing, Spencer Ewing; 13 great grandchildren; sister Naomi Edwards Buck Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and brother Richard Edwards. "
