Russell “Russ” Luttrell, 81, of Decatur, IL, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024.
Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Camp Butler Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established for his beloved Bella Mae.
Russ was born September 13, 1943, in Chicago, IL, the son of Merwin “Bud” Luttrell and Hazel (Hienkel) Luttrell. He married Margaret “Margo” Kelly on April 6, 1979, in Wapella. She preceded him in death on February 3, 2016.
Russ served in the U.S. Air Force before working at Mueller and Water Work Supply. Russ owned and operated service stations, and later video rental store throughout Illinois. He was a member of the bowling Hall of Fame, scoring a perfect game of 300. Russell loved fishing, music, NASCAR, detailing classic cars, played guitar, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and Illini football.
Russ is survived by his children, Tony Luttrell (Sonja), Penny Luttrell, Cary Luttrell, Pam Schmahl (Chad), Patty Meers (Jim); his sister Connie Younker (Ed), brother Don Luttrell (Rosemary), grandchildren Latton, Chris, and Jake Luttrell, Emma and Jackson Schmahl; 3 great-grandchildren; and special companion Bella Mae.
Russ was preceded in death by his wife, Margo, his parents, his sisters Linda Chapman and Judy Goss, and his son Kenneth Luttrell.
