Visitation: 5:00 PM on June 26, 2011 Funeral: 10:00 AM on June 27, 2011 Russell Reed Gentry, Sr., 78, of Cerro Gordo joined his wife in heaven on June 24, 2011, surrounded by his family at Bement Health Care. Graveside service will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 27, 2011 at Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 7 PM Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo. In lieu of flowers - Memorials to DMH Hospice or Apostolic Lighthouse Church. Russell was born September 14, 1932, in Lovington, IL, son of James Russell and Lucy Mae (Henry) Gentry. He married Nancy Corrine Franklin on September 1, 1951 in Lovington. They raised six sons. Russell was considered a very hard worker, starting at a young age. He spent his life in farming, food delivery and home construction. He loved teasing and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Russell is survived by brothers William and Joel; sisters; Maxine, Cora Jane, Carol Ann and Joyce, sons: Russell Jr. (Donna) of GA, Bill (Jackie) of Argenta, Michael (Nancy) of GA, Porter of Cerro Gordo, Robert (JoAnn) of GA and Carroll (Celeste) of Cerro Gordo, grandchildren - Bobby, Corrine, Jamison, Jody, Heather, Robert, Brandon, Mandy and Pamela; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother-in-law John Porter Franklin, sister-in-laws Kathleen Colwell and Rena Franklin. Russell was preceded in death by wife, Nancy; grandsons Jeremy and Joseph; brothers- Herschel and George, sisters- Shirley, Hazel and Marcella. The family wishes to thank DMH Hospice and Bement Health Care Staffs for their wonderful care. "
