Rupert S. Blair, 87, of Decatur, IL, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Heritage Manor in Mount Zion, IL. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 6 to 8 P.M., Monday, February 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon Cemetery, Macon, IL, with military rites conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans of Decatur, IL. Rupert was born March 10, 1922, in Chandlerville, IL, the son of Claude and Viola (Ramsey) Blair. He married Dorothy May Hall on January 24, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2008. Rupert was a former member of Prairie Avenue Christian Church. He worked as a Mechanical Inspector and Wrecker Foreman at Wabash Railroad, later the Norfolk & Western Railroad, retiring after 42 years of service. Rupert was a WWII Army Veteran, member of the American Legion and the D.A.V. He is survived by his children Sandra (Bill Pitts) Allen of Colorado Springs, CO, Ronald D. (Jimmie) Blair of Yukon, OK, Michael F. (Rev. Lynn Miller) Blair of Johnstown, PA; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, sons Rupert Leon and Stephen Duane and sister Geraldine Bruner. "
