Ruby J. Smith, 92, a lifelong resident of Macon County, passed away, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Hickory Point Christian Village. Family services will be held commencing at 1:30pm on Saturday, January 20, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home in Decatur. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Macon Cemetery, Macon, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Decatur Memorial Hospital. Ruby was born on November 30, 1925, in Macon, Illinois. She married Stacy Smith on November 25, 1950...they were married for 53 years until Stacy died in 2004. They owned and operated the Dairy Queen stores in Decatur for over 35 years until they were sold in 1983. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She leaves her son, David and his wife, Mary Pat, of Scottsdale, Arizona; granddaughter, Jenna and her husband, Jeff, of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandson, Tim and his wife, Megan, of Chicago, Illinois; great grandchildren, Nash and Lennon, of Scottsdale, Arizona; and her brother, Dewey (Bud) West, of Cerro Gordo, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stacy, and her sister, Virginia. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the exceptional and compassionate care provided by the doctors and nurses of Decatur Memorial Hospital and the staff at Hickory Point Christian Village.
