Roy Lee Carter, 78, of Cerro Gordo, died at 8:34 PM, Friday, July 12, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Cerro Gordo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services. Burial will be at Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials: Donor's Choice Roy was born July 4, 1935 in Oakley, IL, the son of Charlie and Mamine (Lawson) Carter. He married Dawna Mae McCrady, on November 19, 1976 in Cerro Gordo, IL. Roy worked as a carman for Illinois Central Railroad and also was involved in farming. He was a member of Church of the Brethren in Cerro Gordo, IL. Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Dawna Mae; three children, Vera Ellen Gleson of Cameron, OK, Rockland Carter and his wife Ada of Cameron, OK, Nancy Larrick of Oklahoma; two brothers Benjamin Carter of Decatur, IL, Les Carter of Cerro Gordo, IL; one sister, Ruby Walters and her husband Dick of Oakley, IL, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Preceding in death are his parents; brother, Dean; and sister Nettie. "
