Rosie L. Smith, 82, of Decatur, IL passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 in Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. The visitation on Thursday, Feb. 6 from 5-7:00pm also at the funeral home in Decatur. Burial will be at the Harpers Ferry Cemetery in Palmer, IL. Memorials may be made to Homeward Bound. Rosie was born to Albert and Mildred (Nance) Skinner on February 16, 1932 in Palmer, IL. She married Charles Edward Mathes, Sr., in 1950. They were divorced in 1962 and she then married James Laverne Smith in January of 1979; he has preceded her in death. Rosie was a computer operator for Central Illinois Scale and also worked in the History Room of the Decatur Public Library. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morrisonville, IL. Rosie is survived by her daughter Charlene Rose Van Vleet of Decatur, IL, and one brother, Wesley Earl (Carmeline) Skinner of Taylorville, IL. She is also survived by six grandchildren, including Mr. Charles and Rachael Robinson of Decatur, IL, seven great-grandchildren, including Brian Robinson of Decatur, IL, and two great-great-grandchildren. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, sons Lonnie Mathes and Charles Mathes, Jr., one sister, Jessie Pruit, and two brothers, Ralph and Ray Skinner. "
