Ronald Smith

Ronald D. Smith, 61, of Cerro Gordo, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 22, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Saturday, July 21, at the funeral home, with masonic services at 6:30 P.M. The family requests casual attire. Burial will be in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta. Memorials: American Cancer Society. Ron was born August 11, 1950, in Decatur, the son of Ralph and Betty E. (Phillips) Smith. He married Carolyn Cullins in 1976. She preceded him in death in the spring of 1977. Ron was a career truck driver, and was currently employed by McCloud Trucking. He was recently driving in and around various A.D.M. facilities in the Decatur area. Ron was an avid NASCAR fan, with Kyle Busch being his favorite driver. Ron was a member of Argenta Lodge #871 A.F.& A.M. He is survived by his father, Ralph Smith of Cerro Gordo, IL , and his brother, Charles (Linda) Smith of Hartselle, AL, and several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his mother and wife, Carolyn. "
