Rolland W. Miller, 81, of Cerro Gordo, IL, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL, with visitation Friday, July 19, from 4 to 7 P.M., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL, with military rites conducted by the Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117 Building Fund or Oakley Brick Church Building Fund. Rolland was born April 6, 1932 in Monticello, IL, the son of Ben L. and Mary M. (McCosh) Miller. He married Helen L. Helm on July 11, 1952 in Amarillo, TX. Rolland was a member of Oakley Brick Church and was affiliated with Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo. He worked for A.E. Staley for 46 years before retiring. Rolland was a U.S. Air Force veteran, member and past post commander of Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117, member of Charles Parlier Korean War Veterans Chapter #24 in Decatur, member of the afternoon Legion 42 Club, member of Cerro Gordo volunteer fire dept. for 24 years of active service and 25 years of honorary service. Rolland was a board member of the Piatt County Junior Fair and enjoyed working Monday night bingo. He also enjoyed the challenge of deer hunting. He is survived by his daughters Donna L. Sapp and husband Steven of Decatur, Cynthia L. Miller and fiancé Rodger Coventry of Decatur, Pamela L. Miller of Cerro Gordo, Teresa Miller-Helm and husband Steven of Island Lake, IL, Michelle Y. Walsh and fiancé Van Sampson of Sullivan, IL; grandchildren Christina Sapp-Swenson and husband Bill of Decatur, Andy Sapp and wife Brooke of Mt. Sterling, KY, Nathan Walsh and wife Traci of Cerro Gordo, Tammy Pagel and husband Travis of Argenta, IL, Amie Miller of Chicago, IL, Jennifer King and fiancé Nick Embree of Decatur, Jeffrey Miller and Sonja Wells of Tarpon Springs, FL, Natalie Beiler and husband John of Decatur, Betsy King and Henry Walston of Decatur, Alexa Sampson of Mt. Holly, NC; 14 great grandchildren; sisters Shirley VanDeventer and husband Gary of Cocoa, FL, Barbara Durham and husband Keith of Cottage Hills, IL; special brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews; and close family friend Benny Mueller of Cerro Gordo. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, three brothers, one step brother and 2 sisters. "
