Roger D. Sims, 78, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 11 am at West Frantz Cemetery, with his daughter-in-law Karen Sims officiating. Memorials in Roger’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Roger was born on September 20, 1947 in Decatur, IL, the son of John R. and Alice J. (Edwards) Sims.
He worked at Caterpillar for many years and also enjoyed doing small engine and lawn mower repair.
Roger is survived by his son Adam (Karen) Sims of Shelbyville, IL; his companion Virginia Hart of Decatur; 5 grandchildren, Brittany, Katlynn, Candace, Laci, and Johnny; 7 great-grandchildren; his 2 brothers, John (Jim) Sims and Richard (Debbie) Sims; and 2 nieces.
He is preceded by his parents, John R. and Alice J. Sims.
