Roger L. Grotjan, 67, formerly of Oakley, IL, residing in Fairhope, AL, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at his residence. He fought a hard battle with leukemia for several months. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at North Fork Cemetery, Decatur, IL, with visitation 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, prior to graveside services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society and American Heart Association. Roger was born and raised in Decatur, IL on September 20, 1944. He married Mary Jane Martin on July 2, 1971. He worked in the construction field most of his life and ended at Tate & Lyle where he retired in August of 2011 and moved to Fairhope, AL in October, 2011. Roger loved cars, motorcycles, and especially bowl turning later in life. He also enjoyed trap, skeet, and sporting clays. He is survived by his wife Jane of 40 years, formerly of Oakley, IL, residing in Fairhope, AL; daughter Shelley Jones of Decatur, IL; grandsons Jared and Matthew Suzewits of Decatur, IL; brother Stanley Grotjan (Delores) of Bend, OR; sister-in-law Sue Grotjan of Decatur, IL; brother-in-law Ed Martin (Anne) of Mt. Zion, IL; mother-in-law and father-in-law Ora & Amos Breuchaud of Oakley, IL; many nieces and nephews; and especially our dear friends that have been there always. He was preceded in death by his mother Ardith Grotjan, father Gus Grotjan, and brother Wayne Grotjan. "
