Roger Lee "Oink" Flach, 78, of Oakley, passed away 6:35 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 29, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to Roger Flach Scholarship Fund, c/o State Bank of Cerro Gordo, P.O. Box 440, Cerro Gordo, IL 61818. Roger was born August 29, 1936 to Herman and Opal (Harbarger) Flach in Warrensburg, IL. He married Nancy Lou Kelley on November 5, 1971 in Champaign, IL. Roger retired from Caterpillar in 1993, after 30 years as a maintenance welder. He showed livestock from the age of 10 starting in 4-H and continued in the livestock business, going to county, state and national shows with champion stock at all levels. One of his loves was teaching his children to care for and show their livestock over the years, which he then carried on to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roger was a member of UAW Local 751, past Director of the IL Spot Association, Honoree of the IL Spotted Breeders Hall of Fame and Honoree as 50 plus year showman at the IL State Fair. He served in the IL Air National Guard, was a member of American Legion Post 117, member of various livestock associations, member of the IL Farm Bureau and attended Summit Avenue Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy of Oakley, IL; children Lynne Durham, Chris Cordes, Elaine (Mitch) Fruhling, Jennifer (Terry) Martin, Lisa (Ron) Hammac, Kevin Flach, Pam Cordes, Tammy Jo (Doug) Dawson, Roy (Beth) Flach; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; sister Norma (Flach) Bell; brother Lyle (Kathy) Flach. He was preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, parents Herman and Opal Flach, brother Jim Flach, and sister Anna Marie (Flach) Butcher. The family would like to thank Dr. Mario Velasco, Dr. Timothy Miller and staff, and the staff at Fresenius Medical Center for all their care and compassion given to Roger. "
