Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 20, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. The family requests casual attire.Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.Rodney was born April 11, 1935, in Decatur, IL, the son of Donald and Lucille (Carter) Hughes. He was the owner of Hughes Motors for 22 years and was a U.S. Army veteran. Rodney enjoyed his family and grandkids and watching car races.He is survived by his children Mark T. Hughes and wife Kris of Decatur, IL, Darbi Hughes of Decatur, IL, Kevin Hughes and wife Diane of Springfield, IL, Rick Hughes and girlfriend Monica of Springfield, IL; grandchildren Christina, Jared, Josh, Amanda, Christopher, Stephanie, Grayson, Amelia, Kailyn, Morgan; brothers Jim Hughes and wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, GA, Roger Hughes and wife Barbara of Carson City, NV; sisters Gloria Prescott of Nashville, TN, Marcia Hughes of Comming, GA; and Cindy Hughes of Decatur, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and infant sister.
