Roberta A. "Bobbie" Kerwin, 82, of Decatur, IL, passed away 12:30 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, August 11, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church and Humane Society of Decatur-Macon County. Bobbie was born October 3, 1931 in Tulsa, OK, the daughter of Robert and Pearl (Andrews) Zust. She married Robert C. Kerwin in 1953 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1983. Bobbie was a 1949 graduate of Evanston Township H.S. and received her B.A. from Millikin University in 1953. Bobbie taught for 10 years at St. Patrick's Grade School. She later received her Master's degree from University of Illinois--Springfield. She later continued her teaching career for 21 years at Futures Unlimited, retiring in 2001. Bobbie was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Pi Beta Phi Sorority, and Jr. Welfare Association. She was a volunteer with both Land of Lincoln Legal Aid and St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, where she thoroughly enjoyed being at the Registration Desk. Bobbie was an avid cat lover and a strong supporter of various animal rescue shelters and programs. She is survived by her daughters: Wendy (Kurt) Bickes of Decatur, IL and Lynn Hoyland of Phoenix, AZ.; 2 grandsons: Christopher (Danielle) Meurlot, and Cory Bickes, both of Decatur; 2 great grandchildren; 1 sister: Shirley Bee Kostakos, of Winnetka, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Bobbie's family wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Imboden Creek Living Center for their many months of care and kindness. "
