Robert “Bob” Wubben, 92, of Carlinville, formerly of Blue Mound, died July 21, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
Bob was born October 6, 1933, in Warrensburg, IL, to Albert and Rose (McGee) Wubben.
He graduated from Warrensburg-Latham High School in 1951. He then served in the U.S. Army.
Bob married Ann Rotz on October 9, 1954. He worked for Caterpillar and was a telegrapher for the railroad. In 1965, he had the opportunity to pursue his dream job of farming. During these years, he served on the Macon County Farm Bureau Board and the Macon County Fair Board. He was also a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington, IL.
He continued farming until he retired in 1999. After retiring, Bob and Ann moved to Carlinville, where he enjoyed playing golf and visiting with local farmers and the coffee shop crew. He was a member of Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church. Bob never met a stranger. He enjoyed striking up conversations with everyone he met and had a way of making people feel like old friends.
Bob’s favorite way to spend his time after retirement was with his grandchildren and their parents. That involved attending a lot of school activities and athletic events. Family vacations and traveling together were among his greatest joys. He will be remembered by his family as the best Dad and Papa anyone could ask for.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; his daughters, Jill Albertine of Carlinville and Sue (Carl) Leichtenberger of Pittsfield, PA; and his son, Craig Wubben of Carlinville. His grandchildren are Broc (Katie) Horn of Virginia, Madeline Albertine of Washington, D.C., Elyssa (Ryan) Humes of New Hampshire, Lydia Albertine of Arizona (currently), and Craig “CJ” Wubben Jr. of Springfield. His great-grandchildren are Nora and Hudson Horn. He is also survived by his sister Patty Pease; his brothers, Gene and Gary Wubben; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, July 24th at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur at 12:00 PM with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow in Harristown Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Tumor Foundation, which supports research on Neurofibromatosis Type 1, the genetic condition affecting his great-grandson.
