Robert Whitacre

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 26, in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Monday, August 25, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Robert was born on October 15, 1920, in Decatur, the son of Harry Oliver and Gladys (Eschaugh) Whitacre.Robert was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army. He previously managed Harry Applebaum Apparel. Robert was a member of Macon Lodge #8 AF&AM, Springfield Consistory, and of the Springfield Ansar Shrine Temple.Surviving are his wife Eva of Decatur, IL; son Donald L. Whitacre and wife Janet of New Braunfels, TX; daughter Roberta Bobbie Heneghan and husband Chuck of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Cheri Whitacre, Cori Young and husband Greg, Andrea Stubblefield and husband Jeff, Matt Heneghan and wife Martha; great grandchildren Kolton Stubblefield, Kennedy Whitacre, Quinn Heneghan; brothers James Whitacre and wife Donna of Maroa, IL, Raymond Whitacre and wife Dorma of Decatur, IL; sisters Frances Ray and Lois Hadley, both of Decatur, IL.Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
