Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 20, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL.Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL.Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur, IL.Memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.Robert was born October 20, 1942, in Ironton, MO, the son of John D. and Alleda L. (Hicks) Thomasson. He worked as a software consultant for IBM and formerly worked at Tate & Lyle (A.E. Staleys) for 30 years as a Project Leader in Information Technology. He also taught school at Cape Girardeau. Robert earned his Bachelors degree in Mathematics at SouthEast Missouri State University. He enjoyed bowling and playing bridge and spending time with his family.He is survived by his daughter Krista (Tauseef Tahir) Thomasson of Channahon, IL; son Eric (Shannon) Thomasson of Ballwin, MO; daughter Sarah Thomasson of Decatur, IL; son Michael Thomasson of Decatur, IL; former wife and friend Kitty Thomasson of Decatur, IL; 3 grandchildren; mother-in-law Helen Vinyard of Decatur, IL; sister Mary (Irv) Rogers of Dittmer, MO; brother Russell (Marilyn) Thomasson of Tucson, AZ; sister Edith (Michael) Vaughn of Arnold, MO; special friend Kathy Martin of Chambersburg, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family would like to give special thanks to all the Hospice Staff, especially Jim, DMH, Cancer Care Specialists and Dr. Esparaz for all their care and compassion.
