Robert Warren (Bob) Penwell, 76, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday, June 30, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation 5-7 pm Thursday, June 29, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to The Good Samaritan Inn. Bob was born March 27, 1941, son of Harry and Delema (Jackson) Penwell. He graduated from Mac Arthur High School, class of 1959, and attended Greenville College and Millikin University. In earlier years Bob was a freight salesman for many years. He also managed two truck lines and an industrial warehouse. Bob had various work experiences and enjoyed his many friends. He built many fine quality homes, and developed the Candlebrook subdivision. Bob owned and operated Central Illinois Concrete and the Long Creek Self Storage. Bob had many interests. He enjoyed flying his airplane and was also a boating enthusiast. He enjoyed taking river trips with his friends as well as sharing his boat with friends and family. Bob also enjoyed several hunting trips to the Colorado mountains with friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dr. Marvin Penwell and James Penwell. He is survived by his brother David (Faith) Penwell, sisters in law Gloria Penwell (Erickson) and Juanita Penwell, nieces and nephews Todd (Allyson) Penwell, Pam (Hal) Warrick, Dr. Brian (Dr. Nancy) Penwell, Polly Penwell, Linda (Mathew) Irwin, Joni (Jon) Wetmore, and Scott Penwell. Bob had two more generations of nieces and nephews who were very fond of their “Uncle Bob.” People that knew him described him as loving, caring and generous. "
