Robert D. Nichols, 82, of Bethany, died Sunday, October 8, 2017, in his home. Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 11, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home with visitation two hours prior to service time. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.Robert was born February 20, 1935, in Newton, IL, the son of Cloyce and Mabel (Foltz) Nichols. He married Jaretta Ramsey July 1, 1955, in Casey, IL. Robert was a crane operator at Caterpillar and retired after 27 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and camping. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jaretta; son, Tim (Barb) Nichols of Dalton City; son-in-law, Terry Rigdon of Macon; grandchildren, Jonathon (Hope) Nichols of Dalton City, Kelly Nichols of Decatur, and Krystal Rigdon of Macon; great grandchildren, Cora Hart, Caden Grossman, Angelique Rigdon, Brayden Rigdon, Devin Nichols, and Tanner Nichols; brother, Kenneth (Nancy) Nichols of Yale, IL; several nieces and nephews.Robert was preceded in death by his parents, daughter April Rigdon, and 2 sisters. Robert was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was never bored, lived life to the fullest and never wasted a second. "
