Robert Murphy

Robert M. Murphy, 59, of Forsyth, IL, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019, in his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities. Robert was born September 1, 1959, in Decatur, IL, son of Louis Melton and Peggy Jean (Shaw) Murphy. He married Gretchen Kaye Henseler July 21, 1984, in Decatur. Robert was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks, and golfing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his grandson Everett. Robert loved his dog Auggie and his granddogs Leo and Wrigley. Surviving are his wife of 34 years,Gretchen; children: Elizabeth M. Lombardo and husband Nick of St. Louis, MO, R. Zachary Murphy and wife Kate of Forsyth, and Jacob L. Murphy and Taylor Madison of Forsyth; grandson: Everett Owen Lombardo; sisters: Cynthia Ollinger of CA and Patricia Rohman of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Kairouz and the staff at Cancer Care Center of Decatur.
