Robert L. Jones, 95, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Sharon United Methodist Church with visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 7, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials in Robert’s honor may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church or Macon County Honor Guard. Robert was born July 19, 1923 in Decatur, IL, the son of Harry Jacob and F. Winifred (Sowers) Jones. He married Rosemary Strongman on December 22, 1943 in Coral Gables, FL. Robert proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII from 1943-1946. He was stationed in Bermuda and France. Robert was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church. He worked alongside his parents and owned and operated Jones Meat Market where he and his wife worked from 1946 until their retirement in 1991. Robert was a loyal Cubs fan and enjoyed watching Westerns. He was a member of American Legion Post 105 and Royal Neighbors of America. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Rosemary; daughters, Sheila McReynolds of Bethany and Sandy (Steve) Dunn of Oakley; son, Mike (Marta) Jones of Roscoe; sister, Judy (Ivan) Hackney of Attica, IN; grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Luce, Brian (Lynette) McReynolds, Tomi (Dave) O’Neill, and Stephanie Dunn; and seven great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Jones; and sister, Phyllis Morgan. Robert deeply loved his family, his country, and his God.
