Robert Dale Hargett, 83, of Decatur, IL, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 31, at Keller Cemetery, Lovington, IL. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, August 30, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. by Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge #979 AF & AM. Bob was born October 16, 1931, in Decatur, the son of Roy and Mayme (Wonderlin) Hargett. He married Joyce Atherton in Lovington, IL on September 10, 1960. Bob worked as a painter for 42 years, retiring from the State of Illinois where he worked at the Lincoln Developmental Center, Lincoln, IL. Bob was a 50 year member of the Ski Klub of Illinois, being one of the four original members that started the Klub. He was also a member of the Ansar Shrine Club, Stephen Decatur Lodge #979 AF & AM, Ansar Shrine Club of Springfield, and the Oriental Band of Decatur. Surviving are his wife of 54 years Joyce of Decatur, IL, sons: Michael of Decatur, IL, Gregory of League City, TX, Bradley (Lori) of Elgin, IL, Timothy (Amy) of Glen Carbon, IL; daughter: Sheri Lewis of Calais, France; grandchildren: Robert of Elgin, IL, Austin Lewis of Boise, ID, Alissa and Ryan of Elgin, IL. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Beulah Miller, Fern Viol, Helen Butler, and Mabel Williams. Bob enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and especially the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed fishing with his friends. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. "
