Robert Fair

May 20, 1961 — May 9, 2025

On Wednesday,  May 7th, Robert ( Bob) Fair was carried away for the last time, and what a joyous reunion we all expect it was for him. There was no place he would rather be than with his beloved wife, and my mom, Donna. And after years of being the one to come home and tell her it was him who had just bought two tickets to paradise, this time Donna arrived, and said, “ are you coming honey?” And he went.

Anyone who knew my dad, knew he loved my mom with every part of his soul. When she passed, the most important parts of him with went her. Now he is once again complete.

In the time my dad was here, he forged his own path. Lived life by his own rules, and built for my mother and I that no matter if times were hard or good, we never went without. It was his dream to always provide me with the life he never had, and he leaves this world fulfilling that dream ten fold.

My dad was gracious and kind. When someone needed help he knew no stranger. How many repairs, installations, oil changes, home projects, he did for people expecting nothing in return is uncountable. He did out of kindness. That was dad.

As his son, I can say my dad has always been my hero. I have always told him, if I could just amount to being half to man he was I would consider myself to be a success. I will spend the rest of life working to achieve that goal, and hoping when we meet again I will hear the words, “buddy boy, you made me proud.”

Though he leaves behind one son, Bob and Donna opened their hearts and homes to so many others. They loved and helped raise nieces and nephews, as if they were their own. Though life did not give them daughters, two chosen daughters would find them. They filled his heart will love and joy, and through them, he would become the most amazing Oba to three other beautiful girls.

His family at Bodine Electric forever held a special place in his heart. He loved the work he did, and the people he did it with. His decades there provided my family a truly amazing and blessed life. He was forever grateful. So am I.

In a time when he needed the most support, his brother, Rick, his wife, and two sons stepped up and brought light into the final years of his life. He cherished you all, Uncle Rick, you were his best friend. Thank you.

There will never be another Bob Fair. As what remains of the legacy that is Bob and Donna, I will every single day honor these two most extraordinary people. My parents were amazing. I smile today because my dad is complete.

Until we meet again us three. Bear Hugs.
