Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 - 7 PM, Monday, June 13, 2011, at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be held 7 PM. Burial will be at Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, IL, where military rites will be conducted by Macon County Honor Guard and US Army Funeral Honors Detail. Memorials: Boy Scouts of America, Lincoln Trails Council.Robert was born October 12, 1922, in Buffalo, IL, the son of Russell E. and Ruth (Lester) Edwards. He married Dorothy Garner on January 16, 1946 in Tacoma, Washington. Robert served in the US Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict and Life member of VFW. He was a 50 year member of Plumber and Pipe Fitters Union Local 65 retiring 1986. He was a 50 year member of Macon Masonic Lodge 8 AF & AM and was also active with the Scottish Rite, Springfield, Ansar Temple, Springfield and Ansar Oriental Band.Robert is survived by one son, Gregory Wayne Edwards of Decatur; two grandchildren Erik and Jennifer Edwards; great granddaughter, Ailye Edwards and one sister, Jane Vetter of Buffalo, IL.Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
