Robert Wesley Cassidy, 81, passed away February 27, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Illinois. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harristown Cemetery, Harristown, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to: Land of Lincoln Honor Flight. Robert was born February 6, 1934 the son of Charles C. and Goldie(Sapp) Cassidy. Robert served his country in the Korean War with the U.S. Army, and was wounded in North Korea in 1951. He received the Purple Heart. In 2014 he was invited back to South Korea by the South Korean government and the Sae Eden Church for the trip of a lifetime to see the changes in South Korea from 1951 until 2014. He was also able to take the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2014. After Robert's military service he was married to Pearl (Skip) Lyons. They were parents to 3 children and later divorced. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor in Decatur, Illinois, for 42 years and was a member of Local 751 Retirees. In August, 1986 he married Nancy Glynn. They enjoyed many years of traveling. They were able to see all 50 states and 31 countries. He loved Ireland and was able to visit three times. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and the 25th Infantry Association. Robert is survived by his wife Nancy, sister Viola(Paul-deceased) Fuqua, and Barbara (Robert) Gordon son Robert (Rose) Cassidy, daughter Lena (Lynn) Terry, son Guy (Stephanie) Cassidy, two stepsons Kevin(Elizabeth) Brisch and Korey (Cadette) Brisch. His grandchildren are: Andy, Matthew, Amanda Terry, Joanna (Eric) Beck, Emily Cassidy, Christian Sadler, Regina (Ethan) Levi, Matthew and Mark Brisch, Logan Davis, Chauncy Brisch, and Sophia Brisch. He has two great granddaughters, Danae and Ezabella Levi. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles, and stepson Kerry Brisch. "
