Military rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church.Bob was born November 22, 1921, the son of Franklin and Grace (Wolfe) Barnett. He married Margie Ione McCoy on January 29, 1942 in Decatur, IL., recently celebrating their 68th anniversary. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2010.Bob was a WWII era Army Aircorps vet and after the war, worked for many years with his brother, Del, at Dels Popcorn Shop, which became a business landmark in downtown Decatur. In addition to making fudge, caramel apples, and popcorn bunnies, etc. at the shop, he also kept quite busy for 50 years with his business, Bobs Beer Line Cleaning. When he wasnt popping popcorn or cleaning out beer lines throughout Decatur, he enjoyed, along with his wife, rooting for the Cubs and the Fighting Illini. Somehow he fell short in raising his two sons, Mike and Steve.......they both became staunch Cardinal fans, much to his chagrin.Pepa, as he was affectionately called, enjoyed his many friends, family, and grandchildren. He was a wonderful father of three: Michael Barnett and wife Shirley of Decatur, IL, Linda Hawke and husband Gary of Windsor, CA, Stephen Barney Barnett of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Nicole, Brandon and Sara, step-grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Hawke, and great-grandson Jim.Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, two brothers, Kenny and Delmar, and one sister, Evelyn.Dad will be greatly missed, however, our loss is comforted knowing he is now happily along side his beloved wife in Gods Kingdom.
