Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Friday, March 19, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.Rick was born December 9, 1955, the son of John and Hazel Patterson. He married Debra Davis December 24, 1993, in Niantic. Rick was a brick mason for 38 years having learned the trade from his father. But his true love, other than his family, was buying and selling antiques. He and his wife had a shop for eight years, and made many wonderful and faithful friends. He also spent some years as a youth group leader at the Niantic United Methodist Church, working with the teens. Teaching them not only the word of God, but also how to deal with real life issues. He cared deeply about helping them. He will be missed by many.Rick is survived by his wife Debra Davis Patterson of Niantic; daughter Rikki Andreas and husband Eric of Decatur; daughter Melissa Patterson of Niantic; step-son Nick Slifer and wife Amber of Illiopolis; grandchildren: Owen, Mya, Caitlin, and Taylor; mother Hazel Patterson of Niantic; brother Ronald Patterson and wife Sheila of Niantic; brother Randy Patterson of Niantic; sister Bonnie Landgrebe and husband Larry of Jacksonville; father-in-law Albert Davis of Blue Mound; brother-in-law Clifford Henry of Springfield; brother-in-law Greg Davis and wife Mary of Blue Mound; brother-in-law Danny Davis and wife Mitzi of Florida; sister-in-law Karen Timmons of Illiopolis; sister-in-law Karol Davis of Decatur; nieces Paula Lane and Cheryl Braden of Murrayville, IL; nephew Mike Patterson and wife Janet of Decatur; nephew Chris Patterson of Nashville, TN; great niece and nephew Suzannah and Jacob Patterson; several aunts and uncles.Rick was preceded in death by his father, John Patterson, and his sister, Darline Henry. The family wishes to thank Ricks cancer doctor, Dr. Mocharnuk, and his staff at SIU at St. Johns, and also the nurses and staff of hospice. "
