Richard Leroy Dick Thompson, 66, of Oreana, IL, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008, at his residence.Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5 -7 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery, Stonington, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.Dick was born December 22, 1941, in Stonington, the son of Charles Ariel and Juanita (Hale) Thompson.Dick served his country with the U.S. Army, and had worked as a computer operator at Firestone for over 30 years. He will be remembered for conversations with family and friends.Surviving are his sons Brian Thompson and friend Diane Roberts of Illiopolis, IL; Brad Thompson and wife Cynthia of Rockford, IL; Brett Thompson and wife Angela of Plainfield, IL; grandchildren Mazzie, Alyssa, Dlyan, Lukas, Lyvia, and niece Linda Curtin and husband Ben of Stonington, IL.Dick was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susanne, and sister Wilma Vasseur.
