Richard Lee Leischner, 73, of Decatur, IL, passed away September 30, 2012, at the Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. Military graveside services by the Macon County Honor Guard will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery, in Riverton, IL at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 8, 2012. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, 210 W. McKinley Ave., Suite 1, Decatur, IL 62526, or to donor's choice. Richard was born September 29, 1939 in Beardstown, IL, the son of John Herman Leischner and Clara Minnie (Boehs) Leischner of Arenzville, IL. He graduated from Trinity Lutheran Grade School and Arenzville High School, class of 1957. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with the 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, Strategic Air Command, from 1962 to 1966, serving his country with honor. Richard was employed by IBM from 1966 to 1983 and Wholesale Business Machines of Decatur as Service Manager, retiring in 2000. He attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Forsyth, IL. Surviving is his devoted companion of 22 years, Betty A. Sanford of Decatur, IL; daughter Melissa Brandt and husband Tim, grandson Timothy Brandt and great granddaughter Madison, all of Titusville, FL; brothers John (Patricia) of Petersburg, IL, Charles (Judy) of Versailles, IL, Edward (Cheryl), Bill (Donna), of Arenzille, IL; sisters Carol (A. Jon) Pierson of Lindsborg, KS, Arlene (Bill) Colclasure of Arenzville, IL, Linda (Jim) Six of Ainsworth, IA; extended family: Michael, Carolyn, Elizabeth and Molly Sanford of Collinsville, OK, Sandra and David Earp, Timothy Danbury of Moweaqua, IL, Christopher and Debbie Sanford of Dunlap, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Lee (Hawks) Leischner and one infant daughter. "
