Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M., Friday, July 9, 2010, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Decatur, IL, with Pastor Bill Abbott officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.Richard was born in Decatur, IL on May 15, 1928, the son of Glen and Georgia Lucille (Trimby) Fortner. He married Charlotte Stinnett on June 19, 1948. They were blessed with and celebrated 62 years of marriage. Richard was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, serving in several offices over the years.Mr. Fortners life long career was in the trucking business with Decatur Cartage, General Transfer, and retiring as General Manager and Vice President of Archer Daniels Midland Trucking Division.Bud was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. In his busy lifetime he enjoyed friends, hunting, fishing, traveling, trucks and dogs. Bud was always there for all of us for counsel or to fix whatever it was. We will miss him so.He leaves to mourn all those he loved so dearly - his wife Charlotte, sons Rick of Morton, IL, Doug of Decatur, IL, sister Jean Fields of Omaha, NE, grandson Tim Fortner and wife Tiffany of Metamora, IL, granddaughters Kimmy Fortner of Chicago and Erika Fortner of Venice, FL, great grandchildren Timmy, Katie, Travis, Tayla and Theo Fortner, brother-in-law Bob Stark of Decatur, IL, nieces and nephews and special people in our lives Becca and Ashley Bennick. Last but not least his best friend Connor the terrier!He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Betty Redding and husband Jean of Decatur, Linda Stark of Decatur, IL, sister-in-law Lois McKinney, brother-in-laws Joe Fields and Roger Stinnett.
