Richard Ford

Richard D. Ford, D.D.S., 80, of Decatur, died December 24, 2016, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. A private gathering will be held at a later date. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Special Operations Warrior Foundation, P.O. Box 89367, Tampa, FL 33689.Dick was born January 31, 1936, in Decatur, the son of L. Marvin and Beulah (Bafford) Ford. He married Sheila Shrout June 27, 1964, in Evanston, IL. Dick practiced dentistry for 34 years in Decatur. He enjoyed playing golf at South Side Country Club. He loved fishing on Cisco Lake, Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He volunteered at Decatur Memorial Hospital in cardiac rehab, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Jake and Emily. Dick was a retired U.S. Army veteran, having served in Europe.Dick is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila of Decatur; daughter Leslie (Edward B., Jr.) Foster of Long Creek, IL; grandchildren Jake and Emily; sister Nancy Laymon of Green Cove Spring, FL; several nieces and nephews.
