Richard M. Black, 82, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017, at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Decatur, with visitation 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.Richard was born December 1, 1934, in Macon, IL, the son of John Robert and Edna Ruth (Moma) Black. He was a 1952 graduate of Macon High School. He married Marilyn M. Stratman on March 23, 1958 in Decatur, IL.Richard was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He served on the Property and Finance Committees at the church. He worked 31 years at Firestone Tire Co. and Black and Company for 16 years. Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran aboard the USS Bradford.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn; children Richard “Rick” Black of Las Vegas, NV, Karen Pacha and husband Tom of Springfield, IL, Kristin Wicker of Decatur; grandchildren Daniel Wilke of Okawville, IL., Kurt Wilke and wife Katie of Okawville, IL., Tyler Tanzyus of Decatur, IL., Ricky Black, Jenna Black both of St. Charles, MO., sister-in-law Joann Black of Macon, IL. and 9 nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles and Paul, sister Dorothy Jostes, and step-mother Gladys Black.
