Reese O. Mitchell, 79, of Decatur, IL, died 12:38 A.M., Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 14, 2011, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 4 to 7 P.M., Thursday, January 13, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, 210 W. North St., Decatur, IL 62522.Reese was born December 29, 1931, in Morrisonville, IL, the son of Marvel Jesse and Eunice Edith (Joiner) Mitchell. He married Dorothy M. Sutton on January 15, 1955 in Carlinville, IL.Reese worked for Tractor Supply Co., Midas Muffler Shop, Beddingfield Buick, Western Auto, Miles Chevrolet and Barbeck Communications, all of Decatur, IL. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, hunting, feeding birds, rebuilding his 1935 John Deere Model A tractor, and spending quality time with his family.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy of Decatur, IL; children Kerry R. (Pam) Mitchell of Decatur, IL, Barbara J. Mitchell (Richard Pease) of Decatur, IL, Chad N. (Gail) Mitchell of Forsyth, IL; grandchildren Kerry Evan Mitchell, Kylie N. Mitchell, both of Decatur, IL, Taylor Mitchell and Pete Mitchell, both of Forsyth, IL; brother Dwain (Ruth) Mitchell of Taylorville, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two sisters.The family would like to thank the fifth floor nurses of DMH, the staff of Cancer Care Specialists of Central IL and especially Dr. Wade for the wonderful care given to Reese.
