Raymond Damery

Raymond E. (Rink) Damery, 84 of Decatur, Illinois is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus. Raymond passed away April 26, 2012 at 6:30 PM in his home with his family by his side. Raymond was born on a farm in rural Blue Mound, IL, March 12, 1928 to Merville H. and Lelah M. (Bailey) Damery. He married Mary Ann Lunsford on July 1, 1966 in Stonington, IL. He farmed in Blue Mound until he was 39, moved to Carol Stream, IL, in 1967 and lived in the Chicago suburbs for many years. Ray was a retired heavy equipment operator and life member of Operating Engineers Local 150 in Chicago. He and his wife moved to Amboy, IL, in 1991, and then to Decatur in 2007 to be near family. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur and a member of the Blue Mound Masonic Lodge #682 AF&AM. Surviving are his wife, Ann; sons Michael R. (Debbie) Damery of Decatur, Daniel R. Damery of Gurnee; daughter Patricia M. (Denny) Brue of Oakley; seven grandchildren: Corie Norfleet, Joshua Norfleet, Heather Shuppara, Cameron Shuppara, Justin Damery, Erin Damery, and Jacqueline Damery; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Dean (Janet) Damery of Blue Mound, Carroll Damery of Blue Mound, Burrell (Phyllis) Damery of Moweaqua, and sister, Elnora Sefried of San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diana Norfleet; and brothers Leo and Dellas Damery Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 30, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 650 N. Wyckles Rd., with Pastor Wes Feltner presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, rural Blue Mound, IL, immediately following the services. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Family would like to give special thanks to: St. John's Hospice, Tabernacle Baptist Church Staff, Cancer Care Center of Decatur, St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Esparaz, and Dr. Franklin. "
