CUSTOM DEATH NOTICERaymond Dale Alsup, 88, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away at 3:34 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2008, at Liberty Village, Clinton, Illinois.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL. The family requests casual attire.Memorials may be made to Warrensburg Latham Educational Foundation.Raymond was born May 5, 1920, near Latham, Macon County, IL, the 4th child of 7 children born to Charles and Margaret (Wachter) Alsup. Raymond moved with his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters to the Warrensburg area in 1933. He attended Warrensburg grade school and graduated from Warrensburg High School. Raymond married his only true love of his life, Johnita Ellen Shewmaker on May 9, 1942, in Decatur. Johnita passed away 3 months following their 50th wedding anniversary celebration in 1992.Raymond was a lifetime farmer following in his fathers footsteps. He and Johnita were active in the Eastern Star Lodge. Mr. Alsup achieved his 50 year membership in the lodge in 2003. Raymond served on many boards and committees in the Warrensburg community. When his father died in 1949, Raymond was appointed to finish his term on the Warrensburg school board, and then was elected to 12 more years as President of the school board during which time, he was instrumental in getting the new Warrensburg school building located where it is today. He served as trustee of the Warrensburg Fire Protection District for 15 years. Raymond also served on the Illini Cemetery board, the Warrensburg Zoning board and the Macon County Soil and Water Conservation board. He also served on the advisory board at Grace United Methodist Church in Decatur, IL. He is affiliated with the Grace United Methodist Church. Mr. Alsup is survived by his daughter Janet Sue (Terry) Camp of Cambria, CA; sons William Edward (Toni) Alsup of Warrensburg, and Raymond Jeffrey (Marcia) Alsup of Decatur, IL. He leaves seven grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, Tawnya, Luke, and Grace Alsup, Eric Burke and Scott Harrelson: three great grandchildren, Stephen Watkins, Joshuah and Hailey Pritchett; two sisters Bernice (Ben) Disbrow and Mable McCane. He leaves many nieces, nephews cousins.Mr. Alsup was preceded in death by his parents, sister Helen, brothers John, Floyd and Carl, one infant daughter and one infant great granddaughter.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com "
