Ray S. Bass III, September 30, 1943 - March, 19, 2017.Ray S. Bass III was born in Decatur, Illinois on September 30, 1943. He passed away on Sunday, March 19, in Tempe, AZ. He was the son of Ray S. Bass Jr. and Phyllis Orey Bass. Known as Skip, he was raised in Decatur and graduated from MacArthur High School. He entered the Air Force and attended college at Boise State in Idaho. In 1968, he met and married Cris Hashu. They were married for nearly 49 years. Ray’s career led him many places. At one point, he operated his own stereo business “The House of Sound”, in Decatur, where he discovered his passion for management. He loved construction and creating a business from the ground up (literally). He worked for various construction firms and eventually owned and operated his own firm, R.S. Bass and Company, from which he retired in 2012. Ray was an active member of Tempe First United Methodist Church for 35 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and first born daughter, Stacy. He leaves behind his wife Cris; children: Angela and Eric (Ashley Wilson); three grandchildren: Addison, Jackson, and Brendan; brothers: Bill (LeEtta) of Naperville, IL, and Steve of Scottsdale, AZ.
