Phyllis Jo Travis, 80, of Evansville died on March 1, at Fair Havens Christian Village in Decatur, Ill., after a battle with lymphoma. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doug; son, Rev. Ryan Travis of Springfield, Ill.; sister Elaine Parravicini of Evansville; 7 nieces and nephews; and 12 international exchange students she hosted from 1992-2003. She was preceded in death by a sister, Cora Maureen Robertson. Born on Feb. 17, 1938, to Loral and Thelma Sharp in Elberfeld, Phyllis lived a full and active life. After graduating from Elberfeld High School in 1956, where she was the first cheerleader elected all 4 years, she spent almost 40 years in the banking industry. She was assistant vice president of Southern Indiana Bank and Trust and a business development officer for Old National Bank. She was among the first in the Tri-State honored with the prestigious ATHENA Award for women in leadership. She previously served as president of the Boonville Optimist and Kiwanis clubs, as well as president of the Warrick County Chamber of Commerce and American Red Cross chapter. She was a member of Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held on Sat., March 10, at 12 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 123 N. 6th St., Boonville, with visitation at 11 a.m. and Rev. Ryan Travis officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Evansville Rescue Mission. "
