Phyllis A. Spinner, 88, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, July 22, 2024 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials in Phyllis’ honor may be made to: Grace Methodist Foundation, Project Linus Central Illinois, or a charity of your choice.
Phyllis was born February 3, 1936 in Decatur, the daughter of Grover Lawrence and Ruth Fredricka (Chesshire) Engle. She married Robert Merle Spinner on January 8, 1956 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1995. Phyllis worked at Illinois Power and A.W. Cash Valve. She enjoyed playing bridge in bridge clubs and loved sewing blankets for Project Linus. Phyllis was a member of Grace Methodist Church, Juvae Jazz Society and was a Kiwanianne.
Surviving are her daughters: Deborah K Ahlden and husband, Mark of Ooltewah, TN, and Judi A. Sturgell and husband, Mark of Decatur; grandchildren: Adam S. Ahlden (Katlin) of Peoria, Eric R. Ahlden (Nikki) of Johns Island, SC, Tyler M. Sturgell (Shannon) of Glendale, AZ, Dylan R. Sturgell (Allysa) of Johns Island, SC, and Ryan M. Sturgell of Decatur; great-grandchildren: Riley, Katie, Riley and Keegan.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; 1 sister and 3 brothers.
